Why You Can Trust the Bible

Do you believe all that people say about the Bible? Some say it was written by men; therefore it's not inspired and unreliable. Others say it contradicts itself. True we can’t trust a book which is full of lies and contradictory. But is the Bible suchlike? Before we consider some points, just be frank and realistic. As a matter of fact, you can find the sacred truth and get a clear understanding of God’s word if you will take time to ponder over what you lean. The true God wants us to know what he likes (his will). Ephesians 1:9 states that: “in that he made known to us the sacred secret of his will. It is according to his good pleasure which he purposed in himself.” This means that we can be fully convinced that God wants us to have a full knowledge of the truth and then trust him.
Let’s consider some facts to know why we can trust the Bible.

The Author of the Bible
Who is the author of the Bible? At 2 Timothy 3:16 we read: “All Scripture is inspired of God…” Through his holy spirit, he made the Bible came to existence. We can also believe what the apostle Peter was inspired to write: “Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke [as they were] moved by the Holy Ghost.”—2 Peter 1:20, 21, King James Version. You can then be sure that the Bible originates with God.
The time of writing is a proof that Jehovah is its author. The first book (Genesis) was completed in the year 1513 B.C.E. and last book (Revelation) in 96 C.E. Writing of the whole Bible took about 1600 years to complete. This makes the Bible a unique book ever written. Can’t we trust it content? Its writers were inspired by God. It is God’s thought that they wrote not theirs. The people who wrote the Bible lived in different cities and in different times but the entire book has one theme.

Why then do people criticize the correctness of the Bible? Often critics are looking for contradictions and so may declare: ‘The Bible writer Matthew says that an army officer came to ask Jesus a favor, while Luke says that representatives were sent to ask. Which one is correct? (Matthew 8:5, 6; Luke 7:2, 3) But is this contradiction?

The work or activity of people may be credited to the one who is actually responsible for it. In this instance, a reasonable person does not claim discrepancy. For example, a report says a mayor built a road even though the actual building was done by his engineers and laborers. Do you consider this to be in error? Of course not! Similarly, the report of Matthew and Luke are not inconsistence. Why? The army officer made a request of Jesus through certain representatives. Surely, knowing more details of Bible issues will clarify those points.

Fulfilled Prophesies are Basis to Trust the Bible
Indeed, Bible prophecies are undergoing fulfillment today! But can we really trust the Bible’s forecast for the future, including its promise of a ‘righteous new heavens and new earth’? (2 Peter 3:13; Revelation 21:3, 4) The Bible foretold concerning the present world’s system of things. It says: “The final age of this world is to be a time of troubles. Men will love nothing but money and self; they will be arrogant, boastful, and abusive; with no respect for parents, no gratitude, no piety, no natural affection … They will be men who preserve the outward form of religion, but are a standing denial of its reality.”—2 Timothy 3:1-5, The New English Bible. It also foretells for “the final age of this world” these things: “Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages.” In addition, “there will be great earth quakes, and in one place after another pestilences.”—Matthew 24:7; Luke 21:11. Have you noticed the fulfillment of these prophecies now? Look around, what’s happening around you? Truly they are really fulfilling today.
There’s another prophecy which is of great importance to note. Please find your Bible and read Matthew 24:14. Who are those in your community that go from house to house to preach the good news free of charge?

Nevertheless, what about yet-to-be-fulfilled promises, such as those at Psalm 37:29 and Isaiah 2:4 which say: “The righteous themselves will posses the earth, and they will reside forever upon it,” and, “They will have to beat their swords into plowshares … neither will they learn war anymore”? Can we trust what the Bible says? Really, there is no reason to doubt anything our Creator promises. The psalmist of old (David) coated: “… The reminder of Jehovah is trustworthy, making the inexperienced wise.”—Psalms 19:7
The decisions and promises of Jehovah are true; they have proved all together righteous. They are more to be desired than gold ... (Psalms 19:10). So, keep on examining the evidence further, you will become ever more convinced of this.
Yes you can trust it because its massage exerts power in your life.
